Mayor Armin Mizani of Keller, Texas announced today that the city intends to formally partner with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the federal 287(g) program, becoming the first city in Tarrant County to do so.
The partnership aims to strengthen law enforcement’s ability to identify and hold accountable individuals arrested for criminal activity who may also be subject to federal immigration enforcement.
“This is about protecting victims, supporting federal law, and preventing dangerous individuals from slipping through the cracks,” Mizani stated in an official letter to the public. He emphasized that the initiative targets only those already in jail for committing crimes, not law-abiding residents or immigrants.
Conservatives are applauding the move as a clear stand for law and order. With rising concerns over soft-on-crime policies in larger cities, Keller’s leadership is being seen as a bold example of prioritizing community safety and accountability.
Mizani reiterated that public safety in Keller is “not up for negotiation” and that every legal tool will be used to ensure that criminals face justice. Supporters say this is a responsible, commonsense approach to crime and immigration enforcement that puts citizens first.
