During a faith-filled memorial service honoring the life of the late Charlie Kirk, President Donald Trump was seen reuniting with SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, in the wake of months of quarreling.
The two men – once tight political allies – were spotted at Kirk’s memorial service, shaking hands briefly and chatting for a moment during the solemn yet joyful celebration of the late Turning Point USA president’s life:
Benny Johnson – a podcast host, conservative commentator, and close friend of Charlie Kirk – shared on a special episode of “The Charlie Kirk Show” what Musk remarked to Johnson and several others at the event on Sunday.
“Elon Musk and Donald Trump had a bit of a falling out,” Johnson said. “And that sucked, especially for guys like Charlie, who were coalition builders.”
Johnson said, “Backstage, Elon Musk embraces Erika Kirk and she’s crying in his arms and they’re hugging and it’s really profound…and these are the words that Elon Musk said to us in the small little group with Erika. And he said, ‘This is why I was proud to sit with my president – that’s what he called Trump – today.’ He accepted Trump’s invitation to go up there.”
Johnson continued, “But the cornerstone of it all, to unite the world’s most powerful, richest, private civilian with the world’s most powerful public figure, Charlie said, in this chair, right here, he hoped that it happened.”
Musk’s falling out with the Trump administration came after a fiery first few months in the White House, where the innovator acted as a senior advisor and spearheaded DOGE. In the inexplicable falling out – which seemed predicated on Musk’s opposition to the president’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” legislation – Musk went on the political warpath against the administration.
Musk even created a third political party, the “America Party,” intended to challenge the traditional two-party system. Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec astutely observed at the time, “America does have a 3rd Party. It just happens to operate within the Republican Party. It is called MAGA, and draws support on trade and immigration from outside the GOP. The uniparty oppose this. This is the state of American politics since 2016[.]”
The horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk – a friend to both President Trump and Elon Musk – seems to have assuaged the open wounds between these two powerful men.
“For Charlie,” Musk wrote on X Sunday night, along with a photo of him sitting with the president.
