President Donald Trump on Monday participated in a Middle East Peace Ceremony in Egypt, where he and dozens of other respected world leaders and representatives celebrated the official signing of the president’s Gaza peace plan.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called the moment a “historic milestone” and described President Trump as the “peace lovers’ leader.”
He praised the American president for demonstrating “that genuine leadership doesn’t mean war-waging – rather, the ability to bring it to a halt.”
El-Sisi promised that Egypt would aid in the recovery, reconstruction, and redevelopment of Gaza in coordination with the United States. “We look ahead to a bright future,” he said.
President Donald Trump delivered remarks after el-Sisi.
“This is the day that people across the region and around the world have been working, striving, hoping, and praying for,” he said. “They have done things over the past months that were really unthinkable – nobody thought this could happen.”
He continued, “With the historic agreement we’ve just signed those prayers of millions have finally been answered.”
He confirmed that the living Israeli hostages have been returned home and that the deceased hostages will soon be laid to rest.
“Together, we have achieved what everybody said was impossible, and at long last, we have peace in the Middle East,” President Trump declared. “…A new and beautiful day is rising, and now, rebuilding begins.”
He extended “tremendous gratitude” to the Arab and Muslim nations in the world who assisted in making the breakthrough Gaza deal possible. He also thanks President el-Sisi for bestowing upon him the “Order of the Nile” for his extraordinary efforts to achieve peace.
“Today, for the first time anyone can remember, we have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to put the old feuds and bitter hatreds behind us… If we do, together, we will reach the Middle East’s incredible destiny—a safe, and prosperous, and beautiful crossroads of culture and commerce, faith and humanity,” President Trump said.
