Trump-Backed Whistleblower Triggers FBI Probe Into Standard Chartered Bank
LindellTV Breaking News Desk | August 20, 2025
Britain’s fifth-largest bank, Standard Chartered, is now facing fresh allegations that it helped companies tied to Iran’s military and nuclear programs circumvent U.S. sanctions. The bank, which has a branch in New York, has already been fined $1.5 billion by U.S. authorities for previous sanctions breaches through its American branch.
As previously reported on LindellTV, former executive Julian Knight claims Standard Chartered covered up the true scale of those violations. Knight, who first revealed the allegations six years ago, has waged a lengthy legal battle in U.S. courts against both the bank and the U.S. government.
The case recently gained new momentum after Knight appeared on LindellTV; and when President Donald Trump highlighted Knight’s claims on his Truth Social account, accusing New York’s Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of ignoring a “treasure trove” of bank data. Trump, who has repeatedly attacked James as a “disgrace.”
In a new development, Sean Buckley, deputy U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed in an email to Knight’s lawyers that a case file has been reviewed and referred to the FBI. The investigation could expose Standard Chartered to further penalties worth billions of dollars.
Standard Chartered has denied allegations. Letitia James has not publicly commented.
