Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, has been pronounced dead following a shooting at Utah Valley University. Authorities say the gunman fired from a building roughly 200 yards away, striking Kirk in the neck shortly after noon. Despite early reports that a suspect had been detained, police later confirmed the shooter remains at large. Federal investigators, including the FBI and ATF, are leading the case.
President Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social, calling Kirk “The Great, and even Legendary Charlie Kirk,” praising his influence among young Americans, and offering condolences to Kirk’s wife Erika and their children.
The shocking attack has drawn condemnation from most across the political spectrum and reignited concerns over rising political violence in the United States. Kirk, 31, was a prominent conservative voice who built one of the most influential grassroots youth movements in the country.
