What was Trump’s real intent behind the controversial Truth Social post?

The recent post by President Trump on Truth Social ignited a media firestorm over the last 24 hours. The AI image depicts Trump as a robed figure appearing to have descended from heaven. He is shown touching a sick man. To many, this image shows Trump as Jesus or another divine figure.
The President subsequently deleted the image. He cited a widespread misunderstanding of the post. He claimed he thought the image depicted him as a Red Cross worker helping people. He stated he did not intend for it to be seen as a depiction of Jesus.
Was this actually the case? If we look at the image honestly, it is hard to believe he thought it portrayed him as a Red Cross worker. The robe with a red shawl is a stereotypical outfit associated with Jesus. The beings descending from the heavens certainly imply divinity.
Perhaps we ought to give him the benefit of the doubt. Even so, is that much better? This raises questions about his ability to consider context clues. He may have had entirely different intentions. It is possible President Trump knew exactly how people would react and simply wanted to stir them up. When the backlash came, he feigned ignorance.
President Trump probably feels like he can get away with just about anything. He once said he could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody without losing any voters. That is probably more true than we think.
