What is going on with X?

On Tuesday morning, a global outage at Cloudflare disrupted access to multiple online platforms, including X, ChatGPT, and Spotify. Users reported errors when loading websites or mobile applications and difficulties logging in.
Cloudflare said the outage began early in the morning due to internal service degradation. An unexpected surge in traffic to one of its services overwhelmed parts of its network, producing “500 Internal Server Error” messages across affected sites. By mid-morning, Cloudflare implemented a fix and restored most services. Some users continued to experience intermittent issues.
The outage affected consumer-facing platforms and services that rely on Cloudflare for infrastructure, including parts of public transit systems. Cloudflare stated that the disruption was caused by internal error and that there is no evidence of a cyberattack. The company continues to monitor its systems while investigating the cause of the traffic surge.
Users around the world experienced service interruptions, with reports coming from North America, Europe, and Asia. Platforms impacted included gaming services, productivity tools, and web applications that depend on Cloudflare’s content delivery and security services.
Cloudflare said normal service has largely returned, though some users may still see elevated error rates. The company is reviewing logs and network data to determine how the surge caused widespread disruptions and to prevent similar outages in the future.
