Rep. Luna warns of a potential Hakeem Jeffries speakership in 2026
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a strong Republican lawmaker from the state of Florida, says she is hopeful the GOP can codify the president’s EO on capping prescription drug prices, which would give Republicans an advantage headed into the midterms

GOP Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (Fla.) warned this week about what a potential Democrat majority could look like if Republicans lose the midterms in 2026, providing a hefty dose of reality and some advice on how the GOP could maintain political momentum to avoid such a political disaster.
Rep. Luna told Fox News that Democrats intend to spark impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump if House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) becomes the new Speaker of the House upon a potential Democrat upset next November.
“I don’t think that the American people want to go through another bogus impeachment, but I also know that I’ve heard it directly from many Democrats that have gone on CNN or MSNBC and said that that’s what they intend to do if Hakeem Jeffries does become speaker, not to mention they’re just going to obstruct,” she said.
Luna pointed to President Trump’s landslide victory in November 2024 as an indicator that the American people wish to see his policies fulfilled. “All we have to do is remind the American people exactly what they are going to do if the Democrats regain control and also to [remind them] what we’ve done for the American people,” she continued.
She highlighted the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” that was signed into law in July, which included sizable tax cuts that should go into effect in 2026.
“I think one of the biggest winning issues will be if the Republican Congress can codify President Trump’s executive order on capping prescription prices, which I’m hopeful that they will do,” she added.
In June, President Trump signed an EO, “Most-Favored-Nation Prescription Drug Pricing,” which included a plan to reduce prescription drug pricing for the nation. Since then, President Trump has made a series of deals with various pharmaceutical companies that will offer reduced drug prices to Americans through TrumpRx.gov.
Luna said that if the long-term codification of lower drug prices happens, “the midterms are with us, the winds are in our sails, and we win and we can continue on bringing prosperity to Americans.”
Currently, Kalshi prediction markets have projected that there is a 76 percent chance that Democrats win the U.S. House majority after the 2026 midterm elections, signaling what appears to be Americans’ disfavor with Republican performance in 2025.
