The Supreme Court is complicit in the continued allowance of “abortion by mail”

The Supreme Court decision to allow the abortion pill to remain available by mail nationwide is a massive failure. They should not have permitted this to continue. Justice Alito and Justice Thomas were the only ones who stood on the right side of this issue in their dissent.
The scope of this move is slightly misunderstood because it was not a standard hearing. This was a shadow docket ruling. It was an emergency order that keeps the current mail order system in place while the case works its way through the lower courts. By using the shadow docket, the Court bypassed the usual transparency of oral arguments and months of public briefing.
The lie being told to the public is that mifepristone is safe and effective. Effective, sure, but at what exactly? It is effective at killing a human being. It is impossible to call a drug safe when its specific purpose is ending a life. There is no safety in that. By allowing this to stay in the mail, the Court is ignoring federal law and the gravity of what is actually happening.
This ruling ensures that a lethal process remains accessible, proving that the system is more concerned with convenience than with protecting life.
