Great American State Fair or MAGA rally? POTUS mulls options
President Donald Trump suggested over the weekend that the Great American State Fair, which will celebrate America’s 250th birthday, should be canceled

Following a series of apparent complications with finding celebrities willing to perform at the Great American State Fair, President Donald Trump has proposed canceling the event and replacing it with one of his signature “MAGA rallies.”
“We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain,” President Trump remarked on Truth Social.
As reported by LindellTV, a large lineup of musicians was originally slated to perform at the GASF – a 16-day event set up on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. – but following the initial rollout of the schedule, several dropped out, including Martina McBride and Young MC.
“I was presented with the opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading,” McBride said in a statement. “I asked lots of questions and was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states. In my mind I thought this was a great way to celebrate the states and also bring people together in the way that only music can.”
Young MC additionally suggested that the reason he was dropping out of the lineup was due to the “politically charged” nature of the event.
President Trump floated the idea of featuring himself as the star of the show, instead, in a separate but lengthy comment posted to Truth Social:
I understand Artists are getting “the yips” having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate “Artists,” and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!
Daily Wire commentator Matt Walsh posited on X, “…This should have been a massive, raucous celebration of the country and its 250 year history. Now it will be a political rally identical to the ten million other ones we’ve already seen.”
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, by contrast, over the weekend argued on CNN for the president’s idea of hosting a MAGA rally on the National Mall, noting, “The president plays a key figure in helping to, again, celebrate, kick off, and be at the opening of these events, it’s very appropriate. President Trump’s going to be at dozens of events.”
